Walter Knoll was a pioneering German furniture maker whose influence is still visible to this day.
Born into a family of leather craftsman, he carried on the legacy of hos father, Wilhelm Knoll, who had established a successful leather workshop in Stuttgart in the 19th century.
Walter took the family’s craftsmanship heritage and brought it into the modern age, founding his own company in 1925.
Walter brought a modern vision to furniture design, combining traditional craftsmanship with contemporary aesthetics.
His company became known for high-quality upholstered furniture and was among the first in Germany to produce modern seating influenced by the Bauhaus movement.
Today, Walter Knoll Gmbh is internationally recognised for its timeless design, exceptional quality, and commitment to innovation in interior architecture.
